Birthday Party day for the Triplets

Happ Birthday Amelia Marcus and Joselyn.

Here we are, the day of the birthday party, and we have some really great cake and cupcakes to celebrate with.

Karla and Max did a Mexican theme for the party with Max's homemade salsa and Tacos. The cake for the Triplets was Baby Einstein caterpiller. What fun they Had with those.

It was a great party and the kids had a great time. John and I got them dual DVD players so they could have entertainment on long car trips. We also got them books and clothes and OH YES the outfits they wore for the party. Here they are at the sand and water table they got from the other grandparents

The day was great and they had a great time. At bedtime they all went down quickly and fell fast asleep. We are so very blest to have five wonderful Grandchildren.

Fun week with the grandkids

So Wednesday we went to Wet and Wild water park in Greensboro with Tracey, Matt, Charlie and Nathan. The boys had a great time. Charlie did the kids water slides and then he wanted to go on all the big ones. We tried to tell him he was hot tall enough but he kept telling us he was tall enough and he could go on them. This from a boy who is afraid of holes in ceilings.

Matt did the dead mans drop and Charlie kept insisting he was big enough to do it. He also wanted to go on all the other big ones and could not understand why he couldn't. Nathan was content to just play in all the kiddy pools. We took pictures and I will post them as soon as I get them.

Today John and I got to go to the Pool with Karla and the triplets. We had a really good time with them playing in the water with us.
I just love spending this precious time with my grandchildren. They truly are the light of my life.
Friday is a busy day for me. I am watching Charlie and Nathan so Tracey can sleep after working all night. I will go over in the afternoon and pick up Mia to spend the night with us then on Saturday morning it is back over to Karla's to help get ready for the Triplets 1st birthday party in the afternoon. I would not have it any other way.

I will fill you in on everything after the weekend festivities are over.

Let the fun begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haircut Day

Well today was haircut day for our sweet red head Nathan. Tracey really loved his curls in the back but Matt said it was time for him to get a haircut so this morning he got his very first haircut. He is still so very cute even with his little boy look. After the haircut the boys ate lunch and then we put Nathan down for his nap so I could cut Tracey's hair. Last time I cut it she thought it was a little to short. This time I was very careful to leave it longer but she wants it a little shorter in the back so I guess next week we can take a bit more off the back before she leaves on her cruise on the 28th for her birthday. I sure would love to be going on a cruise. Maybe this year I will just book one and go. Anyone want to go with me?

John and I are getting new kitchen appliances tomorrow in Roanoke to finish off the redecorating of the kitchen. We still have so much more upgrading to do. There is new carpeting upstairs, Hardwood in the living and dining rooms, and having the upstairs bedrooms and hallway painted including the woodwork. Then we need to get the driveway re blacktopped as it is falling apart.
So much to do. Better to put the money into the house since it gets no interest in the bank.

Now on to the Kids. Charlie decided he wanted to spend the night tonight so he is here with me. He keeps telling me he is ready to go to bed but he just wants to go up and explore. Tomorrow morning he is going to the children's museum in downtown Raleigh. Maybe Karla and the Triplets will come but they just got better from the colds so maybe Karla will keep them away so they stay well for the big birthday party on the 27th.
If they don't go I will go spend some time with them between naps to get my baby fix.

I am off to Roanoke on Wednesday morning to get ready to leave for Erie on Thursday morning.
Till next time bye bye.

Divided time

So I try hard to divide my time as equally as I can among my grandchildren and sometimes I do ok and others I am sure I do not. I never want my children to feel as though I love one set of grandkids more then the others. I love spending time with each and every one of them.

Charlie has all of a sudden decided he wants to stay home at his house all the time. This may be just a phase for now, and I hope it is, but we can work around it if need be. We will take him to Roanoke sometime in July for a long weekend. June is half over and we are going to Erie for a wedding on the 18th till the 21st and then we are back to NC for the 1st birthday party of the triplets on the 27th. Tracey and Matt are going on a cruise the following week so the boys get to go to Matts parents for the following week till the 4th or 5th of July. I guess we will have to pin down a time for them to come to Roanoke.
Charlie has always wanted to come stay with us so I pray this phase passes quickly. Nathan is getting jeolous when we take Charlie without him so we will have to take him sometime soon for the night while Charlie wants to stay at his house. Nathan is so cute and at the same time is a handful. He can wipe me out pretty quickly but I still love spending time with him.

I kept Mia overnight one night this past week because her and Marcus were sick with ear infections and colds so Karla needed to have only one to get up with for one night at least. Mia needed lots of TLC and I was so happy to help.
John and I babysat with the triplets on Friday night so mommy and daddy could go to dinner and a movie or something and we had a blast. Marcus and Mia were feeling a bit better so they played and laughed with us. Josie is a little charmer and entertains herself so well. She is so very sweet and smiles and talks a bunch. She says oh oh all the time. Mia is our silly girl and crawls right up to me and John and wants us to pick her up all the time. (I am sure she would do it to everyone else also) I just want to beleive I am special. Marcus is such a mamas boy right now that it is great when they go out because then he wants us to hold him and entertain him. He is on the verge of walking. Maybe by his first birthday. They are all very sweet.

Until next time.

Spending time with my Grandchildren

I try to spend as much time with my grandchildren as I can. They are young now and want to spend time with us so I take advantage of that as much as I can. I know that when they get older they will be busy with school activities, friends and being cool.

I try to take turns keeping them overnight as much as I can. I will be taking them to our Roanoke home to spend time whenever I am permitted to as well. Charlie loves coming to Roanoke so we hope to take him for a long weekend, maybe with Nathan, sometime soon. I also want to take the Triplets sometime soon as well . It may be a challenge to have all three at the same time as well as taking Charlie and Nathan together but I love spending the time with all of them so I will do whatever I can to spend this precious time with them all.

John and I are off to Erie next weekend for my neices wedding on the 20th but we will head back probably on Fathers day. We will be celebrating the triplets 1st birthday party on the 27th of June and maybe we can take someone back to Roanoke with us for the 4th of July weekend. We will see who we might get to take.

That is it for now.

Five Grandchildren in three years

I remember when my daughter Tracey told us about expecting our first grandchild Charlie, it was Easter weekend and we went to dinner on Saturday evening and were given a card which they informed us of the pregnancy. We were so very excited. Charlie was born on October 25th (3 weeks early) and we were so very proud to be there for his birth. His little brother Nathan was born one month shy of two years later and we were able to be there for his birth as well. What a joyous time for us.

Karla had been trying to conceive at this time but we did not know this until a few months later. After seeing a fertility doctor she was finally able to conceive. I remember when she told her father and I that she was pregnant. It was the middle of November and we took a walk with her and she said she was expecting but we were sworn to secrecy. We were not to tell anyone (not even her sister and brother). She wanted to make sure everything was good with the pregnancy before telling anyone. She had her first Ultrasound scheduled for a couple of days after Christmas of 2007. I kept my word and did not tell about the pregnancy over the holiday(it was a very hard thing for me to do) John and I spent Christmas in NC with Karla, Max and Nick. Tracey and Matt were in Stanton that year with his family.
John and I left for Roanoke on the morning of the 27th. We were about 40 minutes into our drive home and my cell rang. I was driving so I pulled over so I could talk. It was Karla. She asked if we were still in town and I said we were on our way back to Roanoke so she said they went for the Ultrasound and that there was a problem. My heart sank and I was about to cry thinking something was wrong with the baby. I asked her what was wrong and she said there are three. I said three what and she said babies. I said you are kidding and she said "I would not kid about this" We were so very excited for them both.
Now anyone who knows me well can tell you I am a big worry wart but God gave me such a peice about this pregnancy that I was just very excited.
We were still sworn to secrecy and rightly so as this was her news to share with our family so I did not tell them.
She held off until my birthday weekend in the beginning of January. I invited Tracey, Matt and Nick over with the pretence of celebrating my birthday so they would come. Tracey and Matt got here first with the boys and then Karla and Max came over. Karla said to Tracey that she wanted to show her what she got for Christmas and she pulled out the ultrasound picture. Tracey being a Labor and Delivery nurse knew what it was and she got all excited and started congratulations when we yelled look at the picture. She looked and was in shock to see not one but three embreo's. Then Nick came in and Karla showed him the picture and said there are three and Nick said "You can download these from the internet" We had to convince him it was true. The rest is history if you read Karlas blog.
Long story but oh so wonderful for our family.
Until next time:
